Free admission for 83 thousand children in MP: Now lakhs of poor children will go to school without money

Madhya Pradesh Makes Education Accessible: 83,000+ Children Secure Free School Admissions-This year has witnessed a monumental leap in educational access in Madhya Pradesh. Thanks to a pioneering online lottery system, a staggering 83,483 children have been granted free admission to private schools under the Right to Education (RTE) Act. This initiative has brought immense relief to thousands of underprivileged families.
A Transparent and Digital Revolution-The state education center, under the leadership of Harjinder Singh, spearheaded this digital transformation. By employing an online lottery, the process ensured complete transparency and eliminated any potential manipulation. Madhya Pradesh is the first state in India to fully implement such a digital, transparent system for RTE admissions, guaranteeing fairness for every child and parent.
Record-Breaking Admissions: Success and Challenges-Over 166,000 children initially qualified for the program. While not all secured a spot, a significant portion—approximately half—were successfully placed in their chosen schools. This reflects a major step forward in providing equal educational opportunities. The allocation information was efficiently communicated to parents via SMS, ensuring clear and timely updates.
Admission Timeline and Financial Support-Children who received school allocations have a window from June 2nd to June 10th, 2025, to complete their admissions. Importantly, the government covers the entire tuition fee, transferring funds directly to the schools’ accounts, removing any financial burden from the parents.
Class-wise Distribution of Seats-The lottery system allocated seats across various classes: 54,038 in Nursery, 22,799 in KG-1, and 6,646 in Class 1. The distribution followed a first-come, first-served basis, ensuring a fair and efficient allocation of resources.
Prioritizing Student Preferences-The system’s success is highlighted by the fact that 72,812 children were placed in their first-choice school. A significant number also received their second or third preferences, demonstrating the system’s effectiveness in matching students with their preferred learning environments.
