Four-member committee formed for implementatiaon of UCC
For effective implementation of Uniform Civil Code Act, a four-member implementation committee has been formed under the chairmanship of former IAS Shatrughan Singh, which has been approved by the Governor. This committee will provide guidance and consultation assistance in training, guidance, portal etc. of senior officers and personnel of departments related to implementation of UCC.
The committee includes Doon University Vice Chancellor Prof. Surekha Dangwal, social worker Manu Gaur, Additional Director General of Police Amit Sinha and local commissioner Ajay Mishra. Since, the committee chairman and other prominent members have been involved in drafting the UCC and making the rules, they have been given a big responsibility in implementation as well.
This committee will provide training of bureaucrats, assistance in preparing master trainers and consultation and guidance related to website and mobile app for implementing UCC. At present, the UCC rules are with the legislature.
Earlier it was expected that after the rules are made, UCC can be implemented in the state as the first state of the country around the State Foundation Day, but the technical aspects of UCC are still under consideration by the legislature. It is believed that UCC will be implemented after being ratified by the legislature.
