Fisherman dies in boat collision with Sri Lankan vessel

An Indian fishing boat collided with a Sri Lankan naval vessel 5 nautical miles north of Kachchativu Island. In this, one of the four fishermen, 59-year-old Malaisamy from Rameswaram, died, while another is missing. The Ministry of External Affairs has strongly protested to Sri Lanka over this. Apart from this, Indian Consul General Sai Murali in Jaffna visited the Kayts Police Station and met the two rescued fishermen Muthumuniandu and Mookaya. Also assured them of all possible help.

The Indian Ministry of External Affairs has summoned the Acting High Commissioner of Sri Lanka on Thursday morning. The Ministry of External Affairs said, the Sri Lankan Navy had tried to take possession of this boat on charges of illegal fishing. During this, the boat overturned and four fishermen on board fell into the sea. However, two were rescued safely. Both the fishermen have been taken to Kankesanthurai coast. Meanwhile, the search for the missing Indian fisherman is on.

On the other hand, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has announced financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh to the family of the deceased. At the same time, cornering the central government on this issue, he said that if the embassy had taken action on this issue in time, such incidents would not have happened. Stalin has said that he will raise the matter before the Center.
