A fire broke out at the Bhilai Steel Plant, causing significant damage estimated in crores of rupees. The fire occurred in the plate mill area, specifically in the rafting stand, leading to extensive mechanical damage. As a result, the plant management has decided to shut down operations for 36 hours.

Efforts to restart the plate mill are underway at war footing by plant employees. The plate mill, which used to produce 4800 tons of products daily, has now been halted due to the incident. Following the event, the management has decided to shut down the plate mill and instructed the maintenance department to conduct repairs promptly. They have set a target of 36 hours to restart operations.
