211 schools with zero enrollment in the state
No students despite deployment of teachers
Raipur 28 May 2025: According to the rationalization report presented by the Education Department of Chhattisgarh, there are a total of 211 government schools in the state where there is not a single student, while teachers are posted in these schools. Zero student number, yet teachers posted If we look at the district-wise data, then the government primary schools Saja Bhawana and Harratikra of Batouli development block of Surguja district are examples of this. There is not a single student in Saja Bhawana school, yet an assistant teacher is working here. At the same time, despite zero enrollment number, one head teacher and two assistant teachers are working in Harratikra school. The Education Department says that the relevance of such schools has ended and the process of transferring the teachers posted here to the schools in need has been started. Huge shortage of teachers in remote areas On the other hand, there is a huge shortage of teachers in remote and inaccessible areas of the state, which is directly affecting the academic performance of the students. Due to lack of subject wise teachers in Government Higher Secondary School Kunwarpur, falling under district Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur, the result of Higher Secondary Examination in the year 2024-25 was only 40.68 percent. This figure is much lower than the average examination result of the state.

Villagers say that for years teachers are not available for important subjects like Science, Mathematics and English, due to which students are not getting quality education. Education Department started restructuring process In view of these circumstances, the Education Department is now re-posting teachers working in such schools under rationalization, where they are really needed. According to departmental sources, the process of teacher rationalization will be completed soon, so that the education system can be improved. Experts’ opinion Experts associated with the education sector believe that this step was necessary for a long time. While on one hand schools are struggling without teachers, on the other hand teachers were not being utilized in schools without students. If rationalization is done in a transparent manner, it can strengthen the education system.
