Ensuring Transparency and Security in India's 2024 Lok Sabha Elections: Insights from Election Officials and Media Workshop
In the lead-up to the 2024 Lok Sabha elections in India, there has been a focus on ensuring the reliability and security of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). Chief Election Officer Nileshkumar Mahadev Kshirsagar recently participated in a one-day workshop where he emphasized that doubts about EVMs are unfounded. He highlighted that there are established protocols in place to ensure transparent and fair processes when using EVMs.
Moreover, the Chief Election Officer emphasized the importance of various departments working together to provide essential services during elections. To fulfill the duty of a voter, facilities such as postal ballots are provided.
During a media workshop organized under the guidance of Chief Election Officer Reena Babasaheb Kangale, information on various aspects of elections was provided. It was stressed that election machinery and the officials involved adhere to high standards of expertise and impartiality, surpassing any doubts. Information about the Election Commission of India’s portals and mobile applications was also shared.
Assistant Chief Election Officer Sharada Agrawal provided insights into the roles of various committees, such as the Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC).
Additionally, Deputy Chief Election Officer Rupesh Varma and Assistant Chief Election Officer Y.S. Agrawal discussed the functioning and security measures of EVMs, highlighting precautions taken and the transparent system in place.
The workshop saw active participation from representatives of various media organizations in the capital city of Raipur. Through interactions with subject matter experts, attendees had the opportunity to seek answers to their questions, enhancing their understanding of the electoral process.
