Ensure proper information system in case of excessive rainfall and floods: Chief Minister Dr. Yadav

Bhopal: Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has said that in order to ensure that there is no loss of life and property in case of excessive rainfall and floods, a strong information system should be made in time. The state government is sensitive towards the safety of the general public. The level of flood prone rivers should be constantly monitored, flood sensitive areas should be pre-assessed and relief camps should be prepared. If required, relief camps should be set up and accommodation and food should be provided. If required, the cooperation of social and religious organizations should also be taken in these works. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav was reviewing the necessary preparations in the ministry in view of excessive rainfall and floods in the state. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that it is necessary to take proper arrangements and necessary precautions during the festivals coming in the rainy season. General information regarding protection from disasters should be widely publicized and the general public should also be included in mock drills and disaster management related training. Revenue Minister Mr. Karan Singh Verma, Farmer Welfare and Agriculture Development Minister Mr. Edal Singh Kanshana, Chief Secretary Mr. Anurag Jain, Director General of Police Mr. Kailash Makwana and other senior officers were present in the meeting. It was informed in the meeting that the state has received more than 61 percent rainfall so far. Maximum rainfall was recorded in Tikamgarh, Mandla, Chhatarpur, Niwari and Sidhi. In view of the forecast of rainfall in the coming months, 2 teams of NDRF have been deployed in Bhopal and one team each in Jabalpur, Gwalior and Dhar to prevent floods and excessive rainfall in the state. SDERF teams are also deployed. The list of district-wise nodal officers of the Army has been provided to the districts to get assistance from the Army in case of disaster. Motor boats, life jackets, flood lights, first aid kits and other disaster equipment have been made available to the districts. Information about the status of waterlogging in the dams of the state was also presented in the meeting.
