Electric Mobility Incentive Scheme Promoting Green Mobility in the Country

The Ministry of Heavy Industries vide Gazette Notification 1334 (E) dated 13th March, 2024 has launched the Electric Mobility Incentive Scheme (EMPS), 2024 to further promote green mobility and development of Electric Vehicle (EV) manufacturing ecosystem in the country. The scheme has a duration of 4 months i.e. from 01st April, 2024 to 31st July, 2024 and has an outlay of Rs. 500 crore.

The details of the scheme outlay in terms of fund allocation and maximum number of vehicles supported on sub-component basis for the period from 1st April, 2024 to 31st July, 2024 are as follows:-

The EMPS 2024 is fund limited. It has a limited number of vehicles and is a limited duration scheme. i.e. subsidy for demand incentive is eligible for e-2W and e-3W till funds are available or the number of supported vehicles reaches the category wise maximum number (mentioned in para above) or till July 31, 2024, whichever is earlier. EVs eligible for incentive under EMPS 2024 scheme should be manufactured and registered within the validity period of EMPS-2024 certificate.

The total payment under demand incentive is limited to Rs 493.55 crore as per the above apportionment. If the funds for this scheme or its respective sub-components are exhausted before July 31, 2024, the scheme or its respective sub-components will be closed, and no further claims will be accepted under EMPS 2024. Claims submitted under this scheme will be incentivized on first come first serve basis.
