Raipur, 30 November 2024:  Mr. Anurag Sharma, a resident of Bodri in Bilaspur district, got a 7 kilowatt solar panel installed on the roof of his house about 7 months ago, since then he does not have to worry about the electricity bill. Earlier, where he was paying two to five thousand rupees electricity bill every month, now the bill is not coming, on the contrary, additional electricity is also being produced. For this, he has also got a subsidy of 78 thousand from the government. This is saving him financially. He said that this is a very good scheme, everyone should take advantage of it.

Hemant Sahu, a resident of Patanjali Nagar in Dhamtari district, says that he applied to avail the benefits of PM Suryaghar Yojana and his solar panel was installed within a month. Earlier, the electricity bill used to be Rs 1000, but now we don’t have to pay any electricity bill at all. Geeta Sahu says that after installing solar panels under the scheme, she can charge her scooty without any worry.

PM Suryaghar Yojana is becoming increasingly popular in Chhattisgarh. 25 thousand houses in the state will be lit up with solar energy. The aim of this scheme is to provide sustainable energy to the people at a cheap rate. The use of solar energy is beneficial not only for the environment but also from an economic point of view.

Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai said that under the Pradhan Mantri Suryaghar Free Electricity Scheme, electricity is produced for domestic use through solar panels. This will ensure the availability of electricity even in remote rural areas as well as create employment opportunities at the local level for solar panel installation and maintenance. This will have a positive impact on the environment along with improving the lifestyle in rural areas.

It is worth mentioning that urban and rural domestic electricity consumers are being encouraged to install roof top solar plants on the roofs of their houses. This solar plant will be connected to the electricity grid through net metering, due to which the electricity produced in excess of the consumer’s consumption is supplied to the grid. This not only makes the consumer’s home electricity bill zero, but also provides additional income in lieu of the electricity supplied to the grid. Up to 300 units of free electricity per month is being provided under this scheme. A subsidy of Rs.30 thousand to Rs.78 thousand is also being given under this scheme. The benefits of this scheme can be availed by registering on the PM Suryaghar.gov.in web portal or the PM Suryaghar app.
