DGP held a large meeting for the peaceful organization of Ujjain Simhastha Mahakumbh-2028

Bhopal. Madhya Pradesh Police’s preparations are gaining momentum for the peaceful and dignified organization of Simhastha Mahakumbh-2028 in Ujjain. Director General of Police Mr. Sudhir Saxena held a large meeting with senior police officers at Police Headquarters Bhopal on Wednesday, November 13, and discussed the action plan in detail. Ujjain IG and SP were also present in the meeting.

Specially in the meeting, Mr. Sarabjit Singh, retired Special Director General of Police, who was IG Ujjain in Simhastha-2004 and Special Director General of Police Intelligence in Simhastha 2016, and Mr. Upendra Jain, Special Director General of Police, who was SP Ujjain in Simhastha-2004 and Mr. Manohar Verma, retired IPS, who was SP Ujjain in Simhastha-2016, shared their experiences.

DGP Mr. Saxena said that Simhastha Maha Kumbh – 2028 to be held in Ujjain will be the world’s largest religious-cultural event. Crores of devotees and tourists will arrive during this time. Therefore, systematic traffic and security arrangements should also be in accordance with this. He said that the crowd control and crowd management system should be very strong. It is necessary to keep a vigilant eye on crime control, anti-national element control and terrorist activities. Along with this, it is essential to have a mutual communication system of all the people engaged in the security system and good contact and coordination with other departments. It is very important to have adequate arrangements of drone cameras and CCTV cameras and dedicated personnel for 24×7 monitoring. DGP Mr. Saxena discussed these points in detail in the meeting.

Security arrangements

This time extensive security arrangements should be made in Simhastha. CCTV cameras, drones, and face recognition technology should be used for the security of the fair. Also, mobile police posts should be set up in the fair area. There will be 24-hour police patrolling in the entire fair area and anti-terror squad and bomb disposal squad should also be deployed. Special teams should be deployed for the security of foreign tourists. Advanced wireless system and command center should be used to ensure uninterrupted communication between police and other departments. QRT, NDRF and SDRF teams should be kept ready at all times to deal with any emergency. The DGP said that priority should be given to the convenience of elderly and disabled devotees. Special help centers and nearby parking facilities should be made available for them in the fair area. The Simhastha fair area should be divided into various zones and sectors. An officer in charge will be deployed in each sector, who will monitor the security arrangements.

Traffic arrangement

This time, various route plans should be made to control the traffic. Make a detailed plan by including the districts near Ujjain in the traffic plan. To control the crowd of vehicles in the fair area, the number of parking spaces will be increased and arrangements for e-rickshaws will also be made along with city buses. To facilitate the devotees, information centers will be set up on the main routes and a mobile application is also proposed to be made available for real-time traffic updates. Comprehensive arrangements were also discussed in the outskirts of Ujjain, railway station and nearby districts.

Special arrangements

This time the police administration will also issue a helpline number for the assistance of devotees and tourists during the Simhastha fair, which will be active 24×7. A plan should be made to set up special helpdesks and child protection centers for the safety of women and children. Apart from this, volunteers and local people should also be involved to deal with crowd management and emergency situations.

All the Additional Director Generals of Police present in the meeting gave detailed information regarding the preparations for Simhastha of their respective branches. The DGP said that all the branches should coordinate with the Ujjain Police and prepare their detailed action plan and ensure to present it within 15 days. Every branch should include its responsibilities, manpower, training, permanent structure, temporary structure, equipment, vehicles and current availability of resources and budget demand as per requirement in its action plan.
