Raipur, April 3, 2015: Chhattisgarh Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Vijay Sharma reached the highly sensitive area Raigudem on Thursday during his one-day visit to Sukma. This is the first time in the history of Chhattisgarh that a Deputy Chief Minister or Home Minister has reached this area for the first time. For the first time in this village which has been under the control of Naxalites for a long time, a minister organized a Janchaupal to listen to the problems of the villagers. Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma first met the CRPF jawans in Raigudem Camp of Konta development block and then organized a chaupal with the villagers and listened to their problems. After this, Deputy CM Vijay Sharma rode on a bike and reached the villagers through rugged areas. He sat on the ground with the villagers and organized a chaupal and listened to their problems carefully. Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma assured the villagers that the government is committed to solving their problems and development work will be started in the area soon.

Till date, your village could not have school, Anganwadi, hospital, electricity, road, mobile tower because Naxalites had stopped all the development work. Now there is no need to fear anyone. Camps have been set up by the government for your safety at various places.

This area is also the home area of Naxalite commander Madvi Hidma, who is a prominent face of Naxalites in Bastar. This visit of Deputy Chief Minister Sharma has brought a new ray of hope for the villagers. Chhattisgarh government’s strategy against Naxalism Naxalism is a long-standing problem in Bastar. He has appealed to the Naxalites to join the mainstream and has offered unconditional peace talks. However, Sharma has also made it clear that for talks, Naxalites will have to give up violence. He said that the Chhattisgarh government is implementing the country’s best Naxal rehabilitation policy. At the end of the programme, Home Minister Sharma distributed useful items to the villagers under the Civic Action Programme.
