Dehradun Accident: Speeding Car Kills Four, Two Others Injured

Dehradun witnessed another tragic accident as a speeding car ran over four pedestrians, killing them on the spot. The incident took place on Rajpur Road when the luxury car, coming at high speed from Mussoorie, lost control and hit four laborers walking on the roadside. The same car then crashed into a scooter, injuring two more people. Instead of stopping, the driver fled the scene, leaving behind chaos and panic. Eyewitnesses were left in shock as people rushed to help the victims.

What the Police Say

SSP Ajay Singh confirmed that the accident occurred near Uttaranchal Hospital, close to Sai Temple in Rajpur area. A luxury car, registered in Chandigarh, was recklessly driven, leading to the fatal collision with four pedestrians and a scooter.

Among the deceased are:

  1. Mansharam (30 years old) – Resident of Loti Saraya, Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh
  2. Ranjeet (35 years old) – Resident of Loti Saraya, Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh
  3. Balkaran (40 years old) – Resident of Jagjitpur, Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh
  4. Durgesh – Resident of Goria, Rudouli, Faizabad

Doctors at Uttaranchal Hospital declared all four dead on arrival.

The two injured scooter riders have been identified as:

  1. Dhaniram (Resident of Hardoi, Uttar Pradesh) – Currently living near Sai Temple, Rajpur, Dehradun
  2. Mohammad Shakib (Resident of Sitamarhi, Bihar) – Currently residing near Uttaranchal Hospital, Dehradun

Both were rushed to Uttaranchal Hospital but were later referred to Doon Government Hospital. They suffered leg injuries and are undergoing treatment.

Police Launch Manhunt for the Driver

Soon after the accident, police launched a citywide search for the absconding driver. Checkpoints have been set up across Dehradun to trace the vehicle. The deceased laborers were reportedly working under a contractor named Shivam and lived in the Kathbangla area near the river. Senior police officials, including the Inspector General (Garhwal) and SSP Dehradun, visited the accident site and assessed the situation. This tragic incident once again raises concerns about reckless driving in the city. Authorities are urging drivers to follow traffic rules to prevent such heartbreaking accidents.
