Decline in stock market, weak start of these sectors
After the slowdown in global markets, the domestic stock market also traded with a decline on Thursday. During this, selling was seen in the shares of banking and financial sector. At 9:18 am, the Sensex slipped 176 points or 0.22% to trade at 80,540. On the other hand, the Nifty was trading at 24,576, down 37 points or 0.15%.
Among the Sensex stocks, Asian Paints, Tata Steel, HDFC Bank, Bajaj Finance, UltraTech Cement and ICICI Bank were seen trading in the red. At the same time, shares of Axis Bank, Infosys, TCS, HCL Tech and Bharti Airtel were seen trading in the green with gains. Shares of Asian Paints fell 3% after a weak performance in the results for the quarter ended June 30. On the other hand, shares of LTI Mindtree gained up to 3.3% after strong Q1 data.
Sector-wise, Nifty Media fell up to 2.6% led by weakness in Zee Entertainment Enterprises, Hathway and Nazara Technologies. Nifty Bank, Auto, FMCG, Metal, Realty and Consumer Durables stocks also declined.
