Gwalior: After the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, the Indian Army has conducted an important test in Sheopur, Madhya Pradesh. Here the first flight of the stratospheric airship platform was successfully tested. This test was completed by the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) from the testing center in Sheopur on May 3, 2025. Agra’s Aerial Delivery Research and Development Establishment has prepared this airship. It was flown to a height of about 17 kilometers, in which it carried a special device. During this, necessary data was also collected from the sensors installed in the airship. This data will further help in creating a strong simulation model for the airship system flying at high altitude. During the trial, the techniques for controlling the pressure of the envelope in the airship and venting air in emergency were also tested to see how these systems work in real conditions. After the flight, the airship was brought back and its system was checked. This entire flight lasted about 62 minutes.

This system will give an edge in surveillance and security  Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has congratulated DRDO for this successful trial. He said that this technology will further strengthen India’s surveillance, intelligence gathering and enemy monitoring capabilities. With this, our country will be included in the list of those few countries which have this high-tech technology at their level. DRDO Chairman and Secretary of Defense Research Department Dr. Sameer V. Kamat also congratulated the entire team engaged in this work. He said that this first flight is a big step towards our goal, in which we are preparing platforms that are lighter than air but can last for a long time at high altitude. This airship can work for a long time by staying at the height of the stratosphere, which will prove to be very important for the security of the country.
