Construction of houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) has gained momentum in Chhattisgarh in the last 11 months

Survey started for Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) 2.0, new beneficiaries will also get houses now

Raipur, November 16: After the formation of the new government in Chhattisgarh under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai in December last year, the work of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in cities has gained momentum. Construction of about 50 thousand houses has been completed in the last 11 months between December-2023 to October-2024. The work of fulfilling the dream of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi of a home for every poor is going on rapidly in Chhattisgarh. After the formation of the new government in the state in December-2023, the work of 49 thousand 834 houses has been completed by accelerating the work of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban). These include 44 thousand 419 houses built by beneficiaries of various cities on their own land and 5415 houses built through affordable housing projects in partnership with the scheme.

Deputy Chief Minister and Urban Administration and Development Minister Shri Arun Saw said that in the last 11 months, the physical and financial progress of the scheme has picked up pace. The houses being built in all the urban bodies and the works of the construction agencies are being reviewed regularly and they have been instructed to complete the work expeditiously to fulfill the dream of a home for the poor soon. He said that during the last 11 months, on an average, 4002 houses being built by the beneficiaries on their own land have been completed every month, whereas between the years 2018 to 2023, this average was only 1592. While accelerating the construction and allotment of affordable housing projects being built in partnership with the scheme, in the last 11 months, 7348 families have been allotted houses and 5855 beneficiaries have been arranged in complete houses.

Deputy Chief Minister Shri Arun Saw informed that the survey for Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) 2.0 has also started in the state. Under this, such urban eligible families who could not get houses in the first phase of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana will be provided with a permanent house. In Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) 2.0, the process of application for housing has been simplified for the convenience of the beneficiaries. Housing applications can be easily registered by the beneficiary himself on the authorized portal of the Government of India through online medium. Along with this, the application process can also be completed through helpdesk in all 189 notified urban bodies of the state.

Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban), a total of two lakh 49 thousand 166 houses have been approved in various urban bodies of the state. These include two lakh 11 thousand 069 houses to be built by the beneficiaries on their own land and 38 thousand 097 houses to be built under affordable housing projects. To fulfill the dream of urban poor to have their own pucca house as soon as possible, these houses are being constructed rapidly by the Urban Administration and Development Department. Under the scheme, a total of one lakh 96 thousand 967 houses have been completed in the state so far, out of which one lakh 74 thousand 967 houses have been built by the beneficiaries. At the same time, construction of 21 thousand 600 houses has been completed under affordable housing projects. Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban), work on a total of 48 thousand 346 houses is in progress in the urban bodies of the state, which is being completed rapidly.
