Congress mayor candidate Vijay Golcha’s nomination cancelled, BJP raises objection
Dhamtari, 30 January 2025: The nomination of Congress mayor candidate Vijay Golcha has been cancelled in the Dhamtari Municipal Corporation elections. The BJP had alleged that Vijay Golcha is a corporation contractor and beneficiary, and on this basis the Returning Officer cancelled his nomination after hearing both the parties. This development has dealt a major blow to the Congress in the municipal elections, while the BJP is seeing it as its big strategic victory. BJP candidates have become unopposed councillors in four places in Chhattisgarh without contesting elections.
Bilaspur: Congress candidate Shyam Patel’s nomination in ward 13 was cancelled due to non-submission of caste certificate, due to which BJP’s Ramesh Patel was elected unopposed councillor. Katghora (Korba): Congress did not field any candidate in ward 13, while in ward 18 the Congress candidate withdrew his nomination, due to which BJP won. Durg: Congress candidate Meera Singh withdrew her nomination in ward 21, due to which BJP’s Vidyavati Singh became the councilor unopposed. Bilaspur: There is an atmosphere of happiness in BJP after the nomination of the Congress candidate was cancelled.
BJP’s Ramesh Patel was elected unopposed from ward 13 (Deendayal Nagar) of Bilaspur Municipal Corporation. Congress candidate Shyam Patel’s nomination was cancelled due to not submitting the caste certificate. On this, Beltara MLA Sushant Shukla took a dig at the Congress and said that now the party does not have workers to contest the elections. BJP District President Deepak Singh also said that the strategy of Congress has now completely weakened. Nominations of 6 candidates cancelled, possibility of rebel candidates in Congress In the scrutiny held on Wednesday, nominations of 6 councilor candidates were cancelled, which include Shyam Patel (Ward 13), Narmada Patel, Rajkumar Sahu (Ward 51), Anita Patil (Ward 52), Shabnam Begum (Ward 55), and Meenakshi Patel (Ward 68). Now the time for withdrawal of nominations is till January 31, after which rebel candidates from both the parties, Congress and BJP, may emerge. Talk of ‘setting’ in ward 13 After the cancellation of the nomination of the Congress candidate in ward 13, speculations of internal ‘setting’ between BJP and Congress have intensified. There is talk that some Congress leaders deliberately did not submit the caste certificate, due to which their candidate was out of the election. This incident has caused great damage to the Congress and the failure of the party’s strategy has also come to the fore.
