Coal Ministry achieves 74.07 million tonnes production in July 2024
The Ministry of Coal has achieved significant growth in total coal production during July 2024. Total coal production has reached 74.07 million tonnes (MT). This has surpassed the figure of 69.42 MT of the same month last year and shows a growth of 6.69 per cent.
The production of Coal India Limited (CIL) has increased to 55.04 MT in July 2024 as compared to 53.67 MT in July 2023, a growth of 2.54 per cent. Cumulative coal production (up to July 2024) has witnessed a commendable jump and has increased to 321.45 MT (Provisional) in FY 2024-25 as compared to 292.80 MT during the same period of FY 2023-24, registering a growth of 9.78%.
Coal loading witnessed a significant increase in July 2024 and touched 79.54 MT as compared to 76.05 MT recorded in July 2023, registering a growth rate of 4.58%. Cumulative coal loading in FY 2024-25 (up to July 2024) stood at 341.61 MT (Provisional), registering a commendable growth of 7.92% as compared to 316.54 MT during the same period of FY 2023-24. As on 31.07.2024, coal stocks held by coal companies witnessed a significant increase, reaching 86.8 MT. This surge represents an impressive annual growth rate of 43.85%, underlining the robust performance and efficiency of the coal sector.
