Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai gave instructions to complete the irrigation projects under construction on priority

Raipur, 06 August 2025: Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai today conducted an in-depth review of various pending projects of the Water Resources Department at Mantralaya Mahanadi Bhawan. He directed the officials to adopt a concrete strategy to bring progress in the construction works and accelerate the pace of construction. Chief Minister Sai took detailed information about the progress of water projects under construction across the state. He especially directed the officials to complete all pending construction works including incomplete water projects before the year 2015 on priority. The Chief Minister said that Chhattisgarh is a state of farmers, and the incompleteness of water projects affects the irrigation capacity, due to which farmers are not able to get the full benefit of the schemes. He also said that if these pending projects are completed in a timely manner, the irrigated area of the state will increase and adequate water availability to the farmers will be ensured.
Chief Minister Sai also underlined that better irrigation system will lead to a significant increase in agricultural production, which will make it possible to increase the income of farmers and improve their standard of living. He clearly said that it is imperative to complete these projects at the earliest so that the farmers can benefit. In the meeting, Secretary of Water Resources Department Rajesh Sukumar Toppo, through a power point presentation, gave detailed information about various irrigation projects being operated in the state to the Chief Minister. He also apprised all the officers about the current status of the pending projects. Water Resources Minister Kedar Kashyap, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Subodh Kumar Singh, Secretary to Chief Minister P. Dayanand, Secretary to Chief Minister Rahul Bhagat, Joint Secretary Dr. Ravi Mittal, Chief Engineer of Water Resources Department Indrajit Uikey and other senior officers of the department were also present during the meeting.
