Chief Minister Sai inspected the under construction Sidhbaba reservoir

34 villages will be irrigated by the scheme

Chhattisgarh: Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai today visited village Gabhra of development block Chhuikhadan and inspected the under-construction Siddha Baba Reservoir Project there. This ambitious project is being constructed at a cost of about Rs 220 crore, which will strengthen the irrigation and water supply system of the area. It is noteworthy that the Siddhababa Small Reservoir Scheme proposed by the Chhattisgarh Government has got administrative approval. This ambitious project will be set up on the Lamati river near village Urtuli of the district, which is located 22 km from the district headquarters. The estimated cost of the project is ₹ 220.07 crore. It has been approved by the Water Resources Department, Ministry Mahanadi Bhawan, Naya Raipur-Atal Nagar on 9 March 2022. There will be a major expansion of irrigation. The total water storage capacity of Siddhababa Reservoir has been fixed at 9.496 million cubic meters. With its construction, irrigation facility will be available on about 1840 hectares of land in a total of 34 villages of Khairagarh-Chhuikhadan-Gandai, Bemetara and Durg districts.

885 hectares in 19 villages (like Gagra, Bundeli, Suradari, Kotra etc.) of Khairagarh assembly constituency. 820 hectares in 11 villages (like Pachrasori, Jano, Sohagpur etc.) of Saja assembly constituency of Bemetara district. Similarly, 135 hectares are included in 4 villages (Agar Kala, Navagaon etc.) of Durg district. Reservoirs will also get a new lease of life. Water will also be supplied to 23 small reservoirs through this project, which will give new energy to water conservation and agricultural production. These include: 13 reservoirs in Chhuikhadan development block, 7 reservoirs in Saja development block, 3 reservoirs in Dhamdha development block Agriculture and rural economy will get a boost This project will not only strengthen irrigation facilities, but will also play an important role in the economy of rural areas, food security and farmer self-reliance. It is expected to provide permanent relief to many areas facing drought.
