Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami Opens the 72nd State Gauchar Fair
Dehradun: The 72nd State Industrial Development and Cultural Fair has kicked off in Gauchar. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami officially opened the Gauchar Fair on Thursday. During the event, he inaugurated the newly built Sub Divisional Transport Office building in Chamoli, which cost ₹4.93 crore.
The Chief Minister also announced several initiatives, including the construction of the Rano-Simkholi motor road in Pokhari, the expansion of the motor road from Kafalpani to Bharatpur, and the construction of the Jilasoo-Sarana motor road. Additionally, he approved ₹10 lakh for building a room for the Chamoli Press Club, stated that a high-level meeting will be held in December to discuss infrastructure development for the upcoming Nanda Devi Raj Jat Yatra, and confirmed the completion of the Polytechnic building in Pokhari.Speaking to a large crowd at the Gauchar Fair, the Chief Minister highlighted that this fair is well-known for blending culture, market, and industry.
He congratulated everyone on the inauguration of this historic fair, noting that organizing it for over seventy years is a point of pride for our state and its residents.The Gauchar Mela is one of the significant historical fairs in our state, with active participation from various government departments.The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of fairs in our lives, stating that they help preserve rich traditions and play a vital role in entertainment and social gatherings.
He mentioned that the Gauchar Mela is particularly special, providing a major platform for preserving our culture and promoting business activities. He noted that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, India is reviving its cultural heritage. Initiatives like “Vocal for Local,” “Make in India,” and “Made in India” are being implemented to support women working in local industries and self-help groups.In this context, the Chief Minister mentioned that the government has launched several important schemes that are helping local products gain recognition not only within the state but also at the national and international levels.
He added that the goal is to reduce migration from the mountains and create job opportunities for local residents by promoting tourism in villages. Thanks to the state government’s efforts, Uttarakhand has become a popular destination for film shoots and has also established a strong reputation as a wedding destination.
