On Saturday, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated the City Forest (Nagar Van) built on Rampur Road in Haldwani, which was developed at a cost of one crore rupees. During the event, the Chief Minister also participated in planting trees within the forest. Speaking at the inauguration, Chief Minister Dhami emphasized that providing better health and a clean environment for the residents of the city is a top priority for the government. He mentioned that the City Forest offers a peaceful retreat amidst the hustle and bustle of urban life. The forest features several attractions, including a lawn, a bamboo hut, a children’s park, an open-air gym, walking paths, a cycling trail, and an elephant selfie point. The City Forest spans 7.5 hectares of land managed by the Forest Department.
The City Forest is home to a variety of plant species, including Khair, Sheesham, Teak, Kanju, Amaltas, Eucalyptus, Moulshree, Chhatyun, Bamboo, Sandalwood, Neem, Bel, Parijat, and Pakhad. Additionally, ongoing developments in the forest include a boundary wall, tree planting, lawn development, a children’s park, an open gym, walking trails, a reception area, an entrance gate, pedestrian paths, ATV trails, and a water tank. Future plans for the City Forest include the establishment of a cafeteria, a souvenir shop, a wellness area, a butterfly garden, a rock garden, a cactus garden, expanded trails, and a canopy walkway.
