Chhattisgarh is among the leading states in the implementation of Ayushman Bharat Yojana

Chhattisgarh ranks fourth in the country in terms of providing treatment
So far, more than 78 lakh beneficiaries have availed free treatment in public and private hospitals
Raipur, 2 August 2025: Chhattisgarh has made remarkable progress in the successful implementation of Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) and has secured fourth place in terms of providing treatment across the country. This success reflects the commitment of the state government to provide inclusive and accessible healthcare, especially for the economically weaker sections. The state government has effectively coordinated AB-PMJAY with two of Chhattisgarh’s special schemes – Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh Ayushman Health Scheme and Chief Minister Special Health Assistance Scheme. This integrated system is providing cashless treatment to maximum beneficiaries.
So far, more than 78 lakh beneficiaries have availed free treatment in public and private hospitals. There has been a significant increase in the number of treatments in public hospitals, which is an indication of the increasing public confidence in the government’s health infrastructure. Keeping in mind the health needs of senior citizens, the Vaya Vandan Yojana has also been strengthened in the state. Under this, more than 4.5 lakh Vaya Vandan cards have been made so far, benefiting 48% of the ration card holders of the state. Targeted access has been ensured in Asha workers, Gram Sabhas, Urban Health Forum, old age homes and residential colonies to encourage registration. Also, continuous contact and service facility is being provided through 104 call center. Under a special effort, the state government is further strengthening the health security of senior citizens by marking 6 districts as ‘Vaya Mitra District’.
