“Charas Smuggling Ring Busted: Two Arrested with Large Haul of Drugs from Hills”
Dehradun: The Dehradun police are running an operation against drugs in the district. They have arrested two drug traffickers, who had a bounty of 10,000 each on their heads. The police seized 3 kilos and 335 grams of illegal charas from them, which is said to be worth lakhs. These accused were bringing illegal charas from hilly districts and supplying it to drug dealers in Dehradun and Haridwar. The Dehradun SSP, Ajay Singh, has instructed all his subordinates to keep a check on drug trafficking in their respective areas. Following these instructions, the Raipur police station head began identifying people involved in the drug trade in the area. The police received a tip-off from an informant that some drug dealers were bringing charas from the hills and supplying it to the plains. Based on this information, the police started a checking operation in the area.
During the operation, the police stopped a suspicious vehicle with a DL number near the FD Bhawan in Raipur for inspection. When they searched the vehicle, they found 3 kilos and 335 grams of illegal charas with the occupants, Neeraj Kathait and Saurabh Chauhan. The charas is estimated to be worth around seven lakhs. The police have filed a case against both men under the NDPS Act. It’s also worth mentioning that both these accused had a 10,000 rupee bounty on their heads. The two accused had previously managed to escape when the police arrested their two other associates, Dharmraj Dhami and Ayush Rawat. During questioning, the accused revealed that they used to collect illegal charas from the hilly areas and supply it in Dehradun, Rishikesh, Haridwar, and other places, making a significant profit. They had bought the seized charas from Tehri and Mussoorie.
