Cg news : Voters will be able to vote even by showing 12 alternative photo documents

Raipur Chief Electoral Officer Reena Babasaheb Kangale said that under the Chhattisgarh Lok Sabha Elections 2024, Electoral Photo Identity Cards have been issued to all the voters by the Election Commission of India. The Commission expects all voters to produce the Electoral Photo Identity Card issued by the Commission to ensure their identity before casting their vote at the polling place.

Chief Electoral Officer Reena Baba Saheb Kangale said that if an elector is unable to show the photo identity card, then 12 alternative documents have also been allowed for him by the Election Commission of India. Electors who are unable to produce their Electoral Photo Identity Card will have to produce any one of the following 12 alternative photo identity documents to establish their identity – Aadhaar Card, MNREGA Job Card, Driving License, PAN Card, Indian Passport , Pension documents with photo, Service Identity Cards with photo issued by Central/State Government/PSU/Public Limited Companies to their employees, Passbooks with photo issued by Banks/Post Offices, Smart cards issued by RGI under NPR, Under the scheme of Labor Ministry. These include health insurance smart cards issued under this scheme, government identity cards issued to MPs/MLAs/Legislative Council members and Unique Disability ID (UDID) card issued to the persons with disabilities by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India. Voters will be able to vote by presenting any of these documents.

Overseas electors who are registered in the electoral rolls on the basis of particulars in their passport will be identified at the polling station only on the basis of their original passport (and no other identity document).
