Raipur. While giving information in the House during the Assembly Budget session, Sports Minister Tankram Verma said that during the previous Congress government in the state, neither a list of outstanding players of the state was prepared nor a investiture ceremony was held. He said that our government is going to hold an investiture ceremony soon. Its preparations have been completed, as soon as time is available from the Chief Minister, the program will be organized.
This issue of outstanding players came up during question hour in the Assembly today. BJP MLA Lata Usendi had raised questions regarding this. In Usendi’s absence, Sushant Shukla asked the question. Minister Verma said that after the change of government in 2018, applications were invited in 18-19 years. There was a delay, it was sent to the CM, but the list was not published. After this, neither the investiture ceremony nor the list was prepared during the entire rule of Congress. Speaker Dr. Raman Singh expressed surprise at this and asked to improve the system.
At the same time, Dharamjit Singh asked whether this government will now select excellent players and give them jobs. On this, Minister Verma said that preparations have been made for the investiture ceremony as soon as our government comes. The event will be organized as soon as the CM gets time. A provision has also been made in the budget for the coming year also. BJP MLA Punnulal Mohale demanded setting quota in each department. On this, the Minister said that out of all the jobs available in the state, 2 percent posts are reserved for excellent sportspersons.
