Major benchmark indices of the Indian stock market were seen trading flat in early trade on Monday. Banking and financial sector shares fell in the market due to selling. However, after the initial slowdown, the market returned green.

Greenery returned to the market after initial slowdown
At 9:51 am on Monday, BSE Sensex was seen trading at 72,304.52 with a gain of 218.89 (0.30%) points. On the other hand, NSE Nifty strengthened by 85.80 (0.39%) points to reach the level of 21,939.60.

Paytm shares fell by 42% in three days, investors lost Rs 20,500 crore
Paytm shares fell 10% during early trading. The company’s shares have fallen by 42% in the last three days. Due to this, investors have suffered a loss of Rs 20,500 crore. After falling by 20% continuously for two days, the exchange has set a lower circuit of 10% for the fall in the company’s shares.

Rupee slips four paise against dollar
Following the strengthening of the US dollar and increase in crude oil prices in the global market, the rupee fell marginally by 4 paise to Rs 83.02 against the dollar in early trade. However, according to Forex traders, the Indian currency is getting support due to the strength of the domestic stock market and inflow of foreign capital.
