Bhojpuri singing and dance presentation in “Sambhavna” activity

bhopal: On Sunday, as part of the regular event ‘Sambhavana’ at the Tribal Museum, Mr. Prahlad Kurmi and friends (Sagar) performed Rai dance, Mr. Kewal Kumar and friends (Anuppur) performed Gond tribal Gudumbaja dance and Mr. Nagendranath Pandey and friends (Ara, Bihar) performed Bhojpuri singing. In the “Sambhavana” activity, Prahlad and his friends presented the Rai dance. This dance expresses the joy and happiness of the people of Bundelkhand. In this dance, the artist sings and dances the phaag. There are many types of Rai songs like Khayal, Swang etc. The tinkling of the bells on the beat of the Mridang and the Swang dancing with it express the tradition along with entertainment. Along with the Rai dance, the phaag of the famous folk poet Isuri is also sung here.

Mr. Sudeep and his friends showed the relationship between environment and humans and the save environment with different stories in the puppet show. They also gave the message of save nature. The story told that a green tree stands proudly in the greenery of nature and the bees circle around it and take honey from it. One day a greedy man comes. He takes out his saw and starts cutting that tree and while working his saw breaks and then that man realizes that he has hurt nature.

In the programme, Mr. Kewal and his friends presented Gond dance. Gudumbaja dance is the traditional dance of Dhulia, a sub-caste of Gond tribe. The community has a long tradition of playing Gudum instrument. Especially on marriage and other ceremonial occasions, artists from this community are invariably invited for auspicious playing. In this dance, instruments like Gudum, Daf, Manjira, Timki etc. are played along with the Shehnai to the tunes of Gond Karma and Saila songs and the dance is performed in various postures with rhythm and beat, wearing colourful costumes and tying Gudum around the waist. In the next presentation, Bhojpuri songs were sung by Nagendranath and his companions. The artists presented many sweet Bhojpuri songs like Devi Geet- Nimima ke daad maiya…, Shiv Vivah- Shiv mora chalele…, Satrun- Arey arey Saguni…, Sahana- Amwa se meeth mahua ae baba…, Jhumar- Pipra ke patwa…, Chaita- Ramji ke bhaile janamwa…, etc.
