Banks should adopt a cooperative attitude to encourage self-help groups, cottage and village industries and medium enterprises: Chief Minister Dr. Yadav

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has said that banks should adopt a cooperative attitude and expand their activities to encourage self-help groups, cottage-village industries and medium industries in the state. For employment-oriented works, it is necessary to encourage activities equally in all districts in areas like agriculture, health, education, tourism. Along with business, banks are expected to work with sensitivity and promptness in works related to public welfare and economic self-reliance of the common man. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav was addressing the 189th and 190th meeting of the State Level Bankers Committee held in the Ministry.

The State Bankers Committee congratulated Chief Minister Dr. Yadav for presenting the budget for the welfare of all people by the state government and for the massive plantation campaign “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” and assured active cooperation of all banks in plantation. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav also released the book Annual Credit Plan Madhya Pradesh 2024-25.

Activities should be conducted at regional level for industry-trade promotion

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that the state government is conducting activities at the regional level for industry-trade promotion with the aim of equal development of all the areas of the state. Bankers should take initiative to encourage economic activities of different regions for this purpose. Development and poor welfare is the top priority of the state government. Efforts should be made to connect people to banks by removing them from the money lending system prevalent in tribal areas. Similarly, an action plan should also be made to provide solid livelihood means to nomadic, semi-nomadic tribes and connect them with agriculture or business. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav directed that in the 14 places where banking branches are yet to be opened, bank facility should be started within the time limit by doing necessary coordination and management.

Rural Self-Employment Training Institutes will also be started in Mauganj, Maihar, Pandhurna, Agar-Malwa and Niwari

Information was presented in the meeting on the business growth of banks, annual credit plan, progress of government schemes in the year 2023-24. Along with this, discussions were also held regarding financial inclusion, non-performing assets. It was told that Rural Self-Employment Training Institutes have been established in almost all the districts. The objective of which is to provide necessary skill training to the BPL youth of rural areas. The process of setting up training institutes is going on in the new districts Mauganj, Maihar and Pandhurna and already in Agar-Malwa and Niwari.
