"Bade Miyan Chote Miyan" Day 1 Box Office: Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff's Film Opens with a Whimper

“Bade Miyan Chote Miyan,” starring Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff, hit the theaters with much anticipation but failed to create the expected buzz on its opening day. According to industry reports, the film managed to collect only Rs 15.5 crore nett across all languages in India, marking it as a mediocre start considering its high budget.

Comparing it to the blockbusters of 2023, like “Jawan” which debuted with a whopping Rs 75 crore, or even the tenth-biggest opener “Tu Jhoothi Main Makkar” which surpassed its collections, “Bade Miyan Chote Miyan” fell short. However, it did manage to surpass the opening day collections of some other films like “Shaitaan” and “Crew.”

Directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, the film was released alongside Ajay Devgn’s “Maidaan,” which also had a lackluster start at Rs 7.1 crore. Despite the underwhelming performance, “Maidaan” received better reviews compared to “Bade Miyan Chote Miyan.”

The film, described by Akshay Kumar as a “Bad Boys-like film,” boasts a star-studded cast including Prithviraj Sukumaran, Sonakshi Sinha, Manushi Chillar, and Alaya F among others. Produced with a reported budget of over Rs 300 crore by Vashu Bhagnani and Jackky Bhagnani, the movie shares its title with the 1998 film starring Amitabh Bachchan and Govinda, but little else.

For Tiger Shroff, whose last cinematic success was “Baaghi 3” in 2020, “Bade Miyan Chote Miyan” presents another opportunity after recent films like “Heropanti 2” and “Ganapath” failed to make a significant impact at the box office.

As for Akshay Kumar, who has seen a mixed bag at the box office lately, his cameo in “OMG 2” was a notable success in 2023. Despite films like “Ram Setu,” “Raksha Bandhan,” and “Samrat Prithviraj” not hitting the mark, “Mission Raniganj” managed a decent collection of Rs 33.74 crore.

Overall, “Bade Miyan Chote Miyan” faces an uphill battle to make a mark amidst the competitive landscape of Hindi cinema, despite its star power and high production value.
