AYUSH department should participate in increasing medical tourism: Chief Minister Dr. Yadav

Bhopal: Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has said that medical tourism is an emerging sector. There are immense possibilities of medical tourism in the state. Along with the Health Department, the AYUSH Department should also participate in this sector. Wellness centers should be established around every tourist spot, religious and spiritual places of importance in the state, so that the tourists coming here can also take advantage of the naturopathy system and Panchkarma facility of the AYUSH Department.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav was addressing the review meeting of the AYUSH Department in the Secretariat. Higher Education, AYUSH and Technical Education Minister Mr. Inder Singh Parmar, Chief Secretary Mr. Anurag Jain, Additional Chief Secretary (Chief Minister’s Office) Dr. Rajesh Rajoura, Principal Secretary Finance Mr. Manish Rastogi, Principal Secretary AYUSH Mr. D.P. Ahuja and other departmental officers were present in the meeting.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that wherever new Ayurveda colleges are to be established in the state under the National Ayush Mission, fast and effective action should be taken to start them. The Health and Ayush departments should work in mutual coordination and synergy and provide the benefit of treatment to maximum number of patients through their respective medical systems. He said that both the departments should move towards employment-oriented education, so that the state gets maximum number of doctors and Ayurveda medical officers.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav praised the departmental officers on getting information that the AYUSH department has posted more than 543 Ayurveda medical officers, 36 homeopathy medical officers, 14 Unani medical officers, 65 Ayurveda lecturers and more than 150 paramedical staff and contract data entry operators. He expressed happiness and said that now AYUSH doctors are available in every village. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav gave instructions to strictly curb quack doctors who are playing with the lives of innocent rural patients by running clinics without any degree and going from house to house.

The services of AYUSH department reached even in remote rural areas

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that providing quality and traditional medical facilities to the citizens is the priority of the government. The inclination of people towards Ayurvedic treatment system is constantly increasing in the country and the state. Keeping this in mind, the AYUSH department should strengthen its systems by fulfilling the necessary human resources for the expansion of all its medical systems such as Ayurveda, Unani, Homeopathy and Naturopathy. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav instructed the departmental officers to intensify public awareness campaigns to increase the faith of the people towards the AYUSH system and ensure the reach of AYUSH services to remote rural areas as well. He said that action should be taken to link those Ayurvedic colleges which we can link to the nearest big university as per the instructions of the Central Government. Because when the colleges of all systems of education and treatment are linked to the regional multipurpose university, there will be convenience in both study and teaching.

Madhya Pradesh is at fifth place in the country in nature testing campaign

AYUSH Minister Shri Inder Singh Parmar informed that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has launched the ‘Nature Test of the Country’ campaign. Rapid action was taken in the state under this campaign. He informed that till now more than 8.50 lakh tests have been done. In this case, Madhya Pradesh has been ranked 5th in the country.

Preparations for setting up of Yoga Institute in Khajuraho

Principal Secretary AYUSH informed that efforts are being made to establish a Yoga Institute in Khajuraho of Chhatarpur district. This proposal of the government is under consideration in the Central Yoga and Naturopathy Research Council. Collector Chhatarpur has allotted 25 acres of land in village Kharrohi near Khajuraho to the AYUSH department for the Yoga Institute. This land has also been inspected by a team of the Central Government. Further action on this will be taken soon. Along with this, a proposal to establish an Inter University Center for Yogic Science in Khajuraho is also under consideration.

Efforts intensified to establish All India Ayurveda Institute in Ujjain

The Principal Secretary informed that a proposal is under consideration in the Central Government for the selection of Madhya Pradesh state for the establishment of All India Institute of Ayurveda in Ujjain district headquarters with the support of the Central Government. The Central Government has sought a proposal under the Greenfield project. The Greenfield proposal has been sent by the State Government.

11 new Ayurveda colleges will be built in the state

The Principal Secretary informed that 11 new Ayurveda colleges are to be opened in the state. This also includes a proposal to establish an Ayurveda college in Dindori district. He informed that under the National Ayush Mission Scheme of the Central Government, the construction work of a 50-bed new Ayurveda hospital in Bhopal and a 30-bed new Ayurveda hospital in Narsinghpur has almost been completed.

Ayush department is running 4 public health programs

The Principal Secretary informed that 4 types of public health programmes are being run by the Ayush Department. In this, 85 thousand 243 students have been educated in the Ayurvigyan programme so far. 24 thousand 442 pregnant mothers have been benefited in the Supraja programme. 17 thousand 975 elderly people have been benefited in the Vayo Mitra programme. Similarly, under the Vyatavyadhi, Joint and Arthritis Prevention Programme, more than 26 thousand 153 patients have been treated so far.
