Asha got a new life from the Chief Minister’s Special Health Assistance Scheme
Asha, who is suffering from sickle cell, got financial assistance of 20 lakhs for bone marrow transplant
Raipur, 26 November 2024: When darkness starts appearing everywhere in life, then even a small light of hope illuminates the whole life. Such is the story of 15-year-old Asha Chakrash living in Remte village panchayat of Kunkuri development block. There were many ups and downs in the life of Asha suffering from sickle cell, but there was no ray of hope anywhere. Here the Chief Minister’s Special Health Assistance Scheme came as a new hope for Asha.
Asha has been suffering from sickle cell disease since birth. This information was no less than a shock for the laborer parents. The doctors had told that Asha has that type of sickle cell disease which is a disease that occurs in one person in 10 lakh people. In this regard, Asha’s mother Bimla Bai Chakrash told that Asha’s father late. Mangalram Chakrash was always worried about her health and treatment. For Asha’s treatment, the couple visited many hospitals with the help of their small savings and Ayushman Bharat Yojana. Even after getting Asha examined everywhere from Raipur to Indore, Mumbai, they were disappointed.
Since childhood, Asha had to visit the hospital every month for blood transfusion and had to bear the expenses too. In such a situation, one day her father Mangalram also died in a tragic accident. In this situation, Asha’s further treatment seemed impossible. One day a medical camp was organized by the district administration where after examination, the doctors advised to get a bone marrow transplant done. It was not possible for us to bear the expenses, then the district administration provided assistance of Rs 01 lakh for the examination, due to which it was possible to go to Raipur and get the examination done. But the problem of expensive treatment still remained.
The doctors informed them about the Chief Minister’s Special Health Assistance Scheme. From where the application was sent by the Health Department to the office of Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai. Taking immediate action, the Chief Minister approved it and provided Rs 20 lakh for treatment. After which a donor was identified for bone marrow transplant in a reputed hospital in Raipur. When the donor’s sample matched, Asha’s bone marrow transplant operation was done. After which Asha got a new life. Asha and her mother thanked Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai for this new life and said that if they had not got help from the Chief Minister, it would not have been possible for them to save Asha’s life.
