Aabha ID is helpful in the treatment of non-communicable diseases in Chhattisgarh

This digital technology is improving the quality of treatment
Raipur, 19 April 2025: In the state of Chhattisgarh, digital technology is now being used on a large scale in the screening, treatment and monitoring of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as high blood pressure, diabetes, cancer. The Ayushman Bharat Health Account (Aabha) ID launched under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission is proving to be a game changer in this direction. Through Aabha ID, patients can keep their health records safe in digital form and can easily share it with a doctor or health worker when needed. With the help of this ID, it has also become easier to share information between hospitals, clinics and laboratories, thereby improving the quality of treatment. In Chhattisgarh, Aabha ID has been linked to the National NCD Portal. This has made the process of screening, diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of patients more streamlined. Mobile and tablet based apps for ANMs and Community Health Officers and web portals for Primary Health Centres have been provided, making work easier.
Director Health Services Dr. Priyanka Shukla says that creating Abha ID is the priority of the state government. This will help in the prevention and management of diseases like NCDs. The positive impact of this initiative is being seen in Durg district. Between January 2024 and February 2025, 12,627 Abha IDs were linked to the records of NCD patients. As a result, the follow-up rate among patients linked to Abha reached 68 percent, while it was only 37 percent among patients without Abha ID. Similarly, blood pressure and diabetes control also showed improvement in patients linked to Abha. 49 percent of the patients remained under control, while this figure was 29 percent among non-linked patients. Health workers have been trained with the help of WHO. The state government and the World Health Organization team are constantly monitoring this entire process. To ease the process of linking Abha ID with Aadhaar’s demographic information, WHO has also created a training video in Hindi. This digital initiative in Chhattisgarh is not only proving helpful in preventing diseases, but it has also increased confidence in the services of the health department.
