Mahasamund district ranks first in the state by purchasing 11.04 lakh metric tonnes of paddy
Raipur 3 February 2025: In Chhattisgarh, a record 149.25 lakh metric tonnes of paddy has been purchased by the state government in this Kharif season under the minimum support price. This includes coarse paddy 81.98 lakh metric tonnes, thin paddy 10.75 lakh metric tonnes and Sarna paddy 56.52 lakh metric tonnes. This purchase of paddy is the biggest record since the formation of the state. The process of paddy purchase started from 14 November 2024 and continued till 31 January 2025, under which 25 lakh 49 thousand 592 registered farmers of the state sold paddy. In lieu of paddy purchase, Rs 31 thousand 89 crore has been paid to the farmers under the bank linking system. Mahasamund district is at number one in the state by purchasing the highest 11.04 lakh metric tons of paddy. Bemetara district has secured second position by purchasing 9.38 lakh metric tons of paddy and Balodabazar-Bhatapara district has secured third position by purchasing 8.56 lakh metric tons of paddy. Food department officials said that along with paddy purchase, paddy is being lifted at a fast pace for custom milling. Till now DO and TO have been issued for lifting of more than 123 lakh metric tons of paddy. Against which more than 103 lakh metric tons of paddy has been lifted. Paddy is being lifted continuously through 4102 registered rice millers. Last year 144.92 lakh metric tons of paddy was purchased. According to the information received from the Food Department, 27 lakh 60 thousand 712 quintals in Bastar district, 11 lakh 97 thousand 888 quintals in Bijapur, 03 lakh 34 thousand 315 quintals in Dantewada district, 53 lakh 14 thousand 290 quintals in Kanker district, 31 lakh 24 thousand 810 quintals in Kondagaon district, 03 lakh 80 thousand 758 quintals in Narayanpur district, 9 lakh 29 thousand 389 quintals in Sukma district, 69 lakh 19 thousand 834 quintals in Bilaspur district, 14 lakh 05 thousand 797 quintals in Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi, 63 lakh 27 thousand 930 quintals in Janjgir-Champa district, 29 lakh 15 thousand 548 quintals in Korba district, 55 lakh 60 thousand 324 quintals in Mungeli district, 50 lakh in Raigarh district 87 thousand 976 quintals of paddy have been purchased in Sakti district, 51 lakh 37 thousand 411 quintals in Sakti district and 46 lakh 56 thousand 713 quintals in Sarangarh-Bilaigarh district.
