Promote solar energy, save electricity through technological innovation: Chief Minister gave instructions

Raipur, 17 February 2025 – Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai, in a detailed review meeting of the Energy Department at Mantralaya Mahanadi Bhawan today, directed to take concrete steps to ensure continuous and uninterrupted power supply in the state, promote solar energy and control power expenditure through new technologies. He said that by promoting solar energy in Chhattisgarh, using the latest technologies and giving more facilities to consumers, we will make the state energy self-reliant. Also, by rapidly advancing the work of rural and urban electrification, we will achieve the target of providing electricity to every household. Electrification got new momentum in Naxal-affected areas Chief Minister Sai praised the extensive electrification done in Naxal-affected areas under the Niyada Nellnar Scheme. He said that connecting all Naxal-affected villages with electricity facility is the priority of the state government. This will help in bringing the villagers into the mainstream of development and improving their standard of living. Chief Minister Sai directed the officials to illuminate the remaining areas deprived of electricity facilities as soon as possible.

Relief to consumers in electricity bill payment, online payment will get a boost Chief Minister Sai directed to give special relief to the consumers regarding the pending payment of electricity bills. He said that due to non-payment of electricity bills on time, the Government suffers revenue loss, while the consumers also have to face inconvenience. Therefore, special facility of one-time payment of pending bills should be given, so that the consumers get relief and the government’s revenue also increases. He also directed that the consumers should be made available information regarding their electricity bills through mobile messages and links, so that they can easily make online payment. Technological innovation will get encouragement in the energy sector

Chief Minister Sai conducted an in-depth review of the state and central government schemes related to rural and urban electrification. He said that the use of modern technologies in the energy sector will not only save electricity, but will also provide more facilities to consumers. Chief Minister Sai directed to develop a concrete strategy to improve the quality of power supply, reduce transmission and distribution losses (T&D Loss), and prevent technical and commercial losses. Chief Minister Sai stressed the need to maximize the use of solar energy. He said that Chhattisgarh has immense potential for solar energy production, which should be effectively implemented through new schemes to adopt it at domestic, commercial and industrial levels. He directed the officials to give priority to solar energy projects in the state and move towards energy self-sufficiency by connecting more and more people to it. Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Subodh Singh, senior officials of Chhattisgarh State Power Distribution Company Limited were present in the meeting.
