A heart-wrenching scene in Indore hospital, newborn’s body seen in stray dog’s mouth

An incident has come to light from Indore district of Madhya Pradesh which has shaken humanity. In Mhow’s civil hospital, a stray dog was seen roaming in the hospital premises with a newborn’s body in its mouth. A security guard of the hospital saw this scene and immediately intervened and got the body released from the dog.
The whole incident is of Saturday early morning, and it has been revealed through the CCTV footage of the hospital. In the video, a teenager was seen going towards the hospital’s toilet between 1.30 and 2 am. Later it was learned that the 17-year-old girl was admitted to the hospital on Friday night complaining of stomach ache. Doctors suspect that the same girl gave birth to the child in the toilet and then left the hospital with an unknown youth shortly after.
Delivery in toilet, questions raised on hospital’s security system – Dr. HR Verma, in-charge of Mhow Civil Hospital, said that the entire incident has been recorded in the CCTV camera near the toilet. The body was freed from the dog due to the alertness of the security personnel, but by then the body of the newborn was partially mutilated. The initial post-mortem report has stated the delivery as premature. This incident has raised serious questions on the security system of the hospital. According to sources, there are three gates in the hospital which remain open at night. One of these gates near the store room became the way for the dogs to come in. It is suspected that the newborn was born dead and was thrown away, after which the dog picked it up.
The Indore incident came to light just after the tragic incident of Mandsaur – The seriousness of this incident also increases because just a few days ago a pack of stray dogs killed a four-year-old child in Mandsaur district. In such a situation, this new incident is again sparking a debate on stray dogs and negligence of hospitals in the state. Mhow police station in-charge Rahul Sharma said that investigation of the incident has been started. Police is examining all the CCTV footage received from the hospital and the missing girl is being searched. The body has been kept in the mortuary after post-mortem and the final report is awaited. This incident has not only exposed a big administrative lapse but also told us that we have to make the security system of our hospitals and public places more strict and humane.
