Faf du Plessis Jokes After RCB Ends Six-Match Losing Streak with IPL Victory Over Sunrisers Hyderabad

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain Faf du Plessis found a moment to laugh after his team ended a frustrating six-match losing streak with a 35-run victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League (IPL). After their first win in over a month, Du Plessis joked that he forgot how to get to the press conference, indicating just how long it had been since they last won.

RCB’s rough season had seen them win only two out of nine matches, with their first victory on March 25 against Punjab Kings and their second on April 25 against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Their slump was affecting team morale, and Du Plessis knew that winning is crucial for building confidence.

In the post-match press conference, Du Plessis acknowledged the team’s recent struggles, pointing out that in their last two matches, RCB showed signs of fighting spirit. He noted that although they had come close in a couple of matches, like the one against Kolkata Knight Riders where they lost by just one run, winning is the only way to gain real confidence as a group.

He explained that it’s not enough to talk about confidence—it has to come from actual performances on the field. Du Plessis also praised his team for their effort, pointing out that a win is a big boost for everyone, especially after a challenging period.

The captain highlighted Virat Kohli’s consistent run-scoring for RCB but was also glad to see other players starting to contribute more. Du Plessis mentioned that the competition in the IPL is fierce, with many strong teams, and that it’s essential to be at 100 percent to avoid getting overwhelmed.

In the match itself, Sunrisers Hyderabad had a daunting target of 207 runs to chase, but their aggressive approach led to their downfall. They lost key wickets early and found themselves at 69/5 by the 8th over, making it almost impossible to recover. This match showed the risks of being too aggressive in T20 cricket, where a balanced approach can often lead to better results.

Overall, the win was a much-needed relief for RCB, and Du Plessis was clearly pleased with his team’s performance. He hopes that this victory can be a turning point for the team as they look to improve their standing in the IPL.
