International news: After India's Chandrayaan-3, the second country to do this, know who?

America’s Houston-based private company Intuitive Machines’ lander Odysseus has landed on the South Pole of the Moon. It was launched on 15 February 2024.

According to Indian time, the spacecraft landed at 4:53 pm. With this, Odysseus has become the first spacecraft of a private company to land on the Moon.

At the same time, America is the second country which landed on the South Pole of the Moon. Earlier, on August 23, 2023, India’s Chandrayaan-3 had successfully landed on the South Pole. Before landing, Odysseus’ navigation system experienced a malfunction. Despite this the landing was carried out.

According to the report of American media ‘New York Times’, no information has been received about Odysseus after landing. There is no contact with him, but mission director Tim Crane said that we can say without any doubt that Odysseus is present on the surface of the moon.

Will study the dust present on the moon
The purpose of the Odysseus Moon Mission is to study the dust present on the Moon. In fact, the astronauts who returned after completing the Apollo missions had said that their equipment had been damaged due to dust. Therefore, now scientists want to explain how the dust blown by the spacecraft’s landing remains in the air and then settles on the moon surface.
