Raipur, 02 August 2025: In the holy month of Sawan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi transferred an amount of Rs 20500 crore as the 20th installment of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi to more than 9.7 crore farmers across the country from Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh) directly into their accounts through DBT. On this occasion, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai joined the program virtually with the farmers of the state from the auditorium of Horticulture and Forestry University located in the capital Raipur. Addressing this massive farmers’ conference, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that under the Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, an amount of Rs 3.75 lakh crore has been sent directly to the accounts of farmers across the country since 2019.
The Prime Minister said that our government is continuously working for the prosperity of farmers and PM Kisan Nidhi is a strong example of this. Modi said that ‘Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhanya Yojana’ has been started for backward districts in agricultural development and a provision of Rs 24 thousand crore has been made for this. The Prime Minister said that the government is also investing on a large scale on irrigation schemes so that water can reach the fields and production can increase. ‘Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana’ is being run with the aim of providing relief to farmers from natural disasters, which works to rescue them from crisis. Emphasizing on the economic empowerment of women, the Prime Minister said that more than 1.5 crore women have become ‘Lakhpati Didi’ and we have completed half of the target of 3 crore. Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai, while wishing the people of the state on the holy month of Shravan, prayed to Lord Mahadev for the continuous welfare, prosperity and happiness of Chhattisgarh. He said that more than 25 lakh farmers of Chhattisgarh have received an amount of Rs 553 crore 34 lakh from the Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana.
Expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Modi on behalf of the people of the state, Chief Minister Sai said that the hard work of the food providers has been honored by giving them financial support.
The Chief Minister said that our government is continuously working with dedication for the progress of farmers in accordance with “Modi’s guarantee”. We have fulfilled the promise we made to the farmers. Today, farmers in Chhattisgarh are being given the price of paddy at the rate of Rs 3100 per quintal, which is further strengthening their income. He said that within ten days of the formation of the government, we have further strengthened the trust of the farmers by paying the bonus amount of Rs 3716 crore for 2 years. Under the leadership of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the ‘Kisan Credit Card Scheme’ was started, which transformed farming into a profitable business. The Chief Minister said that earlier farmers used to do farming by taking loans at high interest rates, but today loans are being available at zero interest rate through KCC, which has made farming easier. The Chief Minister said that work is being done rapidly to increase the area of irrigation in the state. The backbone of Naxalism has been broken in Bastar region and we are working to make Bastar an irrigated and prosperous area through schemes like Bodhghat Project, linking of Mahanadi and Indravati River. Sai said that a provision of assistance amount of Rs 10 thousand has been made to encourage pulses and oilseeds crops. Also, assistance amount of Rs 10 thousand is also being provided to landless agricultural laborers.
The Chief Minister said that the government is engaged in strengthening not only farming but also supporting agricultural activities like fisheries, milk production and animal husbandry. The ‘Dairy Animal Distribution Scheme’ has been started in 6 districts of the state as a pilot project, which is being implemented through the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB). This will increase the production of milk and farmers will get a fair price for it. Sai said that steps are being taken to get better prices to farmers in the market by promoting the production of nutritious grains like millets (anan), cultivation of traditional crops like Kodo, Kutki and Ragi. Farmers of Chhattisgarh will get direct benefit from this. Addressing the program, Union Minister of State Tokhan Sahu said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, our government is continuously transferring the amount to the farmers directly in their accounts under this scheme. He said on this occasion that under the leadership of Narendra Modi ji, paved roads have been built in every village. Through Kisan Credit Card, short-term loans are now available to farmers without interest. Our government has worked for the betterment of farmers by bringing many schemes on the ground.
Agriculture Development and Farmers Welfare Minister Ramvichar Netam said that today under this scheme, the amount of 20th installment of Rs 553 crore 34 lakh has been transferred through DBT to the accounts of more than 25.47 lakh farmers of Chhattisgarh. He said that the Vishnudev Sai government of Chhattisgarh is giving a new direction to farming by using modern agricultural equipment and techniques with the vision of Jai-Jawan, Jai-Kisan, Jai-Vigyan and Jai-Anusandhan. He said that ‘Vikasit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan’ was run on a large scale in the state. In this campaign, agricultural scientists, officers and employees met more than one lakh farmers and gave information about the methods of farming and their benefits. In the program, checks of grant amount were provided to the beneficiaries under agricultural equipment and schemes. MLAs Mr. Sunil Soni, Purandar Mishra, Guru Khuswant Saheb, Indrakumar Sahu, Raipur Division Commissioner Mahadev Kavre, Chhattisgarh State Seed and Agriculture Development Corporation Ltd. Managing Director Ajay Agarwal, Indira Gandhi Agriculture University Vice Chancellor Dr. Girish Chandel, Mahatma Gandhi Horticulture and Forestry University Vice Chancellor Dr. R.R. Saxena and a large number of farmers were present in the program.
