PM Gatishakti will be strengthened at the district level
Bhopal. PM Gatishakti will be strengthened at the district level. After the implementation of PM Gati Shakti (PMGS) National Master Plan, infrastructure, social sector and project planning of states will be given more momentum. It is also being implemented at the district level and based on the experiences of the district collectors, “Area Development Approach” will be taken forward.
Collectors of 8 districts of Madhya Pradesh, 10 districts of Chhattisgarh, CEO Zilla Parishad, Technical Officer of NIC participated in the first workshop on PM Gati Shakti here today. The workshop was organized by Department of Industry Promotion and Internal Trade -DPIIT and Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India in collaboration with MPIDC.
The workshop was inaugurated by Sumita Dawra, Special Secretary (Logistics), Government of India, DPIIT, E. Srinivas, Joint Secretary, Government of India, DPIIT and Dr. Navneet Mohan Kothari, Managing Director, MPIDC.
It is noteworthy that PM Gati Shakti (PMGS) National Master Plan (NMP) was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2021. It is a powerful system for project planning and integrated planning of economic sectors. GIS based IT system and institutional framework formed at the central and state government level empowered PM Gatishakti.
Sumita Dawra said that with the inclusion of districts of PM Gati Shakti MP, all the stakeholders of PM Gati Shakti NMP will come together. This will result in effective exchange of information between districts, States/Union Territories and Central Ministries, Departments. This will lead to comprehensive, holistic and integrated regional development and promote ease of doing business, ease of living and green logistics. He said that several success stories have been identified under PMGS NMP by infrastructure and social sector ministries and States/UTs.
The Ministry of Tribal Affairs has used PM GatiShakti to conduct a comprehensive analysis of 23000 tribal settlements under the PM-Janman (Pradhan Mantri Tribal Justice Maha Abhiyan) initiative. 35 areas like education, health, electricity, water etc. have been identified for last mile connectivity in these settlements, so that the standard of living in these areas can improve.
The Lakhnadon-Raipur Green Field Corridor project connecting NH-44 in Madhya Pradesh to NH-30 in Chhattisgarh is being implemented using the PMGS NMP portal. Due to which efficiency has increased. Connectivity with 5 major railway stations, 3 airports and 1 multi modal logistics park is also being improved to improve multi-modal transportation.
Best practices and use cases of PMGS were discussed by various infrastructure and social sector ministries/departments including Ministry of Roads, Highways and Transport, Ministry of Telecommunications, Ministry of Tourism, Department of School Education and Literacy, Department of Higher Education, Department of Land Resources. Adi expressed his views. A presentation was given by NITI Aayog on area development approach for better planning and better implementation with the help of technology.
The usefulness of the PMGS NMP platform in effective planning of infrastructure, social and economic amenities and the role of District Collectors in facilitating comprehensive area-based planning were also highlighted.
Interaction was held with district level officials about the benefits of PM Gati Shakti in providing all-weather facilities like roads, electricity, internet, drinking water in schools, hospitals, Anganwadi centers etc. The hand book issued for district collectors was also discussed.
District portals have been created for the districts with the help of experts from Bhaskaracharya National Institute for Space Applications and Geo-Informatics (BISAG-N). On which various data layers will be available. Officers will be trained to implement the area development approach. This program will be effectively implemented for the districts through PMGati Shakti units and BISAG-N formed at the state level. Also in this series, there will be 6 more workshops in other states to onboard other districts.
