Delhi. Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) has launched a new range of ‘Sanatan Khadi Vastra’ with 20 per cent discount. KVIC Chairman Manoj Kumar launched ‘Sanatan Vastra’ made of Khadi fabrics at the flagship Khadi Bhawan in Connaught Place, New Delhi. The design of Sanatan Vastra has been prepared at the Khadi Center of Excellence (COEK) located at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT). Addressing the media in the program organized on this occasion, KVIC Chairman Shri Kumar said that no mechanical or chemical process is involved in the manufacturing of Khadi. Therefore, Sanatan Vastra prepared according to Indian tradition is unique in itself. He further said that on this occasion, up to 20 percent discount will be given on Sanatan Vastra from 17 to 25 January 2024 at Khadi Bhawan, New Delhi. Apart from this, special discount ranging from 10 percent to 60 percent will be given on Khadi and village industry products.
Addressing the program on the occasion of launch of Sanatan Vastra, Kumar said that with the changing times, under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the country has seen a new and changed form of Khadi. He said the Prime Minister has defined Khadi as ‘Khadi for the nation, Khadi for fashion and Khadi for change’. On the basis of this thinking, keeping in mind the needs of modern times, Khadi’s eternal clothes have been prepared, which is a gift to the present from the glorious history of the past. He emphasized that with the launch of Sanatan Vastra, KVIC wants to connect the youth with Swadeshi, as the expansion of Khadi is part of improving the lives of millions of artisans in rural India.
Kumar said that during the Swadeshi movement in the Indian freedom struggle, Khadi, which was made the most effective weapon of struggle against the British rule by Pujya Bapu, now Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has taken up the responsibility of returning Khadi to its old glory. He said that in the last 9 years the turnover of Khadi and village industries products has crossed the figure of Rs 1.34 lakh crore. Production of Khadi textiles has increased from Rs 880 crore to Rs 3000 crore and sale of Khadi products has increased from Rs 1170 crore to Rs 6000 crore. Not only this, during the Khadi Mahotsav, sales of Rs 1.5 crore were made in the showroom of Connaught Place, Delhi in a day and Rs 25 crore were sold in the Khadi stores in a month. The biggest thing is that Khadi worth Rs 15 crore was sold in 14 days in IITF held in Delhi, which is a record in itself.
