State’s space-tech policy will come by August 2025

Bhopal: Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav had recently announced to make a dedicated space-tech policy in the ‘MP-Tech Growth Conclave’ 2025. With the aim of moving forward towards giving concrete shape to Chief Minister Dr. Yadav’s vision of developing the state as a future center of space technology and innovation, the Department of Science and Technology held a discussion on the topic “MP Space-Tech Policy Consultation: Possibilities and Challenges” at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Indore. ACS Sanjay Dubey of the Department of Science and Technology said that the space-tech policy of the state will be released by August 2025. A roadmap has been prepared for this. More than 30 leading experts, research institutes, start-up representatives, officials from defense and technical sector and experts from educational institutions gave advice in the dialogue on the topic “MP Space-Tech Policy Consultation: Possibilities and Challenges”. ACS Dubey of the Department of Science and Technology described this dialogue held at IIT Indore as very meaningful. He said that our space-tech policy will not be limited to infrastructure or policy incentives. This policy will prove to be an important step towards encouraging related innovations, retaining talent in the state and establishing the state as a strong contender in the field of space-tech.

In a dialogue on space-tech, Prof. Abhirup Dutta, Dean of Research and Development, IET Indore and Director Prof. Suhas Joshi said that space-tech is not limited to satellites only, it is a confluence of engineering, material science, data management and national capabilities. Establishment of optics and optical communication cluster in Ujjain, development of regional data center and satellite ground station, promoting Make-in-India for payload and component manufacturing, domain-specific skilling, cyber security in space systems and support to innovation were also discussed. Experts emphasized on adopting different approaches for remote sensing and core space-tech in space-tech policy making. The consultation session to discuss space-tech policy was attended by representatives from ISRO-in-Space MCF Bhopal, NRSC, DRDO-CAIR, C-DOT, Raja Ramanna Centre for Advanced Technology, Military College of Tele-communication Engineering and IIT Indore, bodies like SIA-India, Trade Promotion Council for Geo-spatial and Space Industry and several innovative start-ups. Among private organisations, representatives from Abhyudaya, Spectragaze, Soaring Aerotech, Affirmity Corp and OmAgri were present.
