
Bhopal: Chairman National Tribal Commission New Delhi and former Jail Minister Madhya Pradesh Government Antar Singh Arya released the book Jailotkarsh. The author of the book Gopal Tamrakar is former Jail Superintendent. This book is based on Tamrakar’s participatory observation and experiences of his 33 years of posting as Jail Superintendent in various district and central jails of Madhya Pradesh. Chairman Tribal Commission Arya said that former Jail Superintendent Tamrakar had done many innovative reformative experiments during his tenure of about 10 years as Jail Minister. Tamrakar was sent to London by the Government of India in the year 1999 as a master trainer on the subject of “Human Rights and Prison Management”. Tamrakar was awarded the President’s Medal twice for commendable services and outstanding services.
Former Jail Superintendent Tamrakar said that the book was written in three parts based on 11-11 years of experience of his 33 years of prison journey. After voluntary retirement in the year 2021, he decided to write a book on his experiences of prison experiences. This book is a compilation of the condition of prisons, development journey and future plans. Emphasis has been laid on adopting a process to make prisoners useful for the society again by considering them as social remains.
