On the 300th birth anniversary of Lokmata Devi Ahilyabai Holkar, Prime Minister Shri Modi virtually inaugurated

Bhopal: Indore today stepped on a new track of modernity. The economic and cultural capital of Madhya Pradesh is now connected with the metro train system. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the first phase of Indore Metro Project through virtual medium from Bhopal. Governor Shri Mangubhai Patel, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav were also specially present on this occasion. There was a festive atmosphere in Indore on this historic occasion of the launch of Metro Rail Project started in Indore on the auspicious occasion of 300th birth anniversary of Lokmata Devi Ahilyabai, in which citizens, especially women, participated enthusiastically. This ceremony was specially focused on women.
Union Urban Development and Housing Minister Shri Tokhan Sahu, Urban Development and Housing Minister Shri Kailash Vijayvargiya, MP Shri Shankar Lalwani, Mayor Shri Pushyamitra Bhargav, MLA Shri Ramesh Mendola, Shri Madhu Verma, Shri Golu Shukla along with other public representatives and Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Chairman Shri Jaideep were specially present at the ceremony held in Indore. The special thing was that this project was started on the auspicious occasion of the 300th birth anniversary of Devi Lok Mata Ahilyabai Holkar and was completely dedicated to women. This has not only given a new direction to the development of Indore city, but this initiative is also important from the point of view of women empowerment.
Indore included in the list of modern cities
The launch of the metro project has added Indore to the list of modern cities of the country, where the transport system of the future has now become a reality. This project will not only reduce traffic congestion but will also play an important role in environmental protection.
From Tonga to Metro: A Historical Journey
The history of Indore’s public transport system has started from horse carriages, tempos, vans and minibuses and has now reached the state-of-the-art metro. This is not just a technological change, but a symbol of the overall progress of the city.
Special facilities for women
This project has been dedicated to women. In which mainly women security force (women guards) will be deployed at every station. Metro coaches will have reserved coaches and CCTV surveillance will be done. Women employees will have special participation in ticket distribution and station management. Special seat reservation and assistance facility will be available for pregnant women and elderly women.
Citizens’ response : Full of enthusiasm and hope
The city dwellers expressed their feelings openly on this historic moment. Ms. Jyoti Sharma says that now we will have a lot of convenience in going to and coming from college, we will be free from traffic and the arbitrariness of auto drivers. Mr. Sunil Chauhan, who works in a private company, said that the metro will save time and reaching the office will now be more reliable. The future of Indore looks very bright. A common housewife Uma Bai said that this metro started on the birth anniversary of a great woman like Lokmata Devi Ahilyabai Holkar, it is a matter of pride for us women. College student Ms. Yamini Gaur said that I had never thought that the metro would run in Indore. But the state government has made it a reality. I am very happy to get this gift. Housewife Kiran Dubey said that today I am feeling very good. That now my city Indore has also been counted as a metro city. Indore was identified till now in cleanliness. Now another crown will be added in the form of metro. Engineer Ms Natasha Billore said that till now Indore had the country’s prestigious educational institutions like IIM, IIT, now another national level transport facility has been added to it. Of course, this will make Indore’s name shine at the national and international level. Divyang young lady Ms Pooja Sharma is very excited about the start of the metro train. She travelled about 10 km with her brother to reach the program to witness this historic occasion. She said that there will be no bigger gift than this for transportation for us Divyangs.
Steps towards a greener future
The Metro project is also an important initiative towards environmental protection. It will reduce dependence on diesel and petrol vehicles and lead to a significant drop in air pollution. Indore, which is already number one in cleanliness, is now also becoming a pioneer in the direction of green transport. Indore Metro is not only an urban amenity, but it has emerged as a symbol of the city’s cultural heritage, technological advancement and social equality. This project, which gives meaning to Prime Minister Shri Modi’s vision of “Nari Shakti” and “New India”, will firmly establish Indore in the list of global smart cities in the coming years.
Festive atmosphere
The program started in a festive atmosphere. Guest Union Minister of State Shri Tokhan Sahu and Urban Development and Housing Minister Shri Kailash Vijayvargiya arrived at the venue and first of all they garlanded the statue of Lokmata Devi Ahilyabai and offered floral tribute. On this occasion Ganesh Puja and other Vastu Puja were also performed as per the rituals. On this occasion the whole atmosphere resonated with the sound of conch shells. In the program, women wearing traditional clothes filled the whole atmosphere with patriotism by shouting Bharat Mata Ki Jai with the national flag in their hands. The speech of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi from Bhopal was also shown live in the program.
The women traveled
With the inauguration of the metro rail by Prime Minister Shri Modi, the journey of metro rail started in Indore. Women participated enthusiastically in the first journey. They boarded the metro rail and travelled with slogans of Bharat Mata Ki Jai. Women also took selfies with the metro rail. They completed the journey singing bhajans.
