New Bridges and Improved Connectivity- Seven new construction projects, including the crucial Malan Bridge on the Chillar Khal-Pakhro motor road in Pauri’s Kotdwar area, were virtually inaugurated. This signifies the state government’s commitment to bridging the infrastructure gap in remote regions. The improved connectivity will not only ease travel but also enhance the overall quality of life for the people in these areas. The reconstruction of the Malan Bridge is a prime example of this commitment, promising safer and faster travel.
Modernizing Kotdwar: A City on the Rise- Kotdwar is witnessing a major infrastructural overhaul. A state-of-the-art sewage treatment plant is under construction (₹135 crore), along with a four-lane bypass and the Kotdwar-Najibabad double-lane road (₹691 crore). The Kotdwar-Pauri-Srinagar road is also being upgraded to double-lane for a smoother commute. These projects aim to modernize the city’s infrastructure and improve the overall living standards.
Enhanced Rail Connectivity and Tourism- Kotdwar’s railway station is being renovated under the Amrit Bharat Station scheme. A new train service, ‘Siddhbali’, connecting Kotdwar to Delhi, has also been introduced. These improvements will not only simplify travel but also stimulate tourism and business in the region. The enhanced rail connectivity will play a vital role in Kotdwar’s future growth.
Improved Healthcare and Education- The construction of a new hospital and bus stand terminal is underway, aiming to provide better healthcare and transportation facilities. Land has also been allocated for a new Kendriya Vidyalaya (central school), emphasizing the government’s dedication to education and accessibility for all. This will provide better educational opportunities for children in the region.
Strengthening Bridges and Roads- The focus on strengthening existing infrastructure is evident in the ongoing work on the Malan, Sukhrau, and Gular bridges. The 325-meter Malan bridge has been completed, while work on Sukhrau (385 meters), another double-lane bridge on Sukhrau river (300 meters), GrastonGanj bridge (90 meters), and Gular bridge (100 meters) is underway. These improvements ensure safer and more efficient travel across these crucial routes.
Road Strengthening for Better Connectivity- Strengthening of the 12 km motor road from Chillar Khal to Pakhro is also underway. This region is prone to rain and landslides, and the strengthened road will not only improve connectivity but also facilitate faster relief and rescue operations during emergencies. This is a crucial step towards building a more resilient infrastructure.
