BSNL’s 5G Journey: A Made-in-India Revolution-BSNL, the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited, is making waves in the 5G world! This isn’t just another tech upgrade; it’s a significant step towards India’s digital independence.

5G Testing in Major Cities-BSNL has kicked off 5G testing in major Indian cities like Jaipur, Lucknow, Chandigarh, Bhopal, Kolkata, Patna, Hyderabad, and Chennai. These cities were chosen strategically due to BSNL’s existing robust network infrastructure. While the testing is currently limited and not yet available to the public, it signifies BSNL’s commitment to upgrading its network and bringing high-speed internet to more people.

100,000 4G Sites by June 2025: A Foundation for 5G-BSNL’s vision extends beyond 5G. The company aims to establish 100,000 4G sites across India by June 2025, all powered by indigenous technology. This ‘Made-in-India’ approach reduces reliance on foreign companies, fosters domestic technological growth, and lays a strong foundation for a seamless 5G rollout. These 4G sites will eventually be upgraded to 5G, ensuring faster and more affordable internet access nationwide.

Expanding Horizons: BTS Rollout in Tier-2 Cities-BSNL’s reach is expanding beyond major metros. Cities like Kanpur, Pune, Vijayawada, Coimbatore, and Kollam are now witnessing the rollout of Base Transceiver Stations (BTS), paving the way for 5G testing in these areas as well. The phased approach prioritizes telecom circles with established infrastructure, ensuring a smooth and efficient 5G launch.

A Glimpse into the Future: Social Media and Internal Testing-BSNL first hinted at its indigenous 5G technology testing last September via a social media post. Currently, testing is confined to internal networks, with limited sites in each city undergoing evaluation. This internal testing demonstrates BSNL’s seriousness about its technology and its readiness for a nationwide rollout.

The Power of ‘Made in India’: A Focus on Self-Reliance-BSNL’s commitment to ‘Made-in-India’ technology is central to its strategy. The plan is to build all 4G sites using domestic technology and then upgrade them to 5G. This strategy boosts India’s technological independence, improves network security, and promises faster internet speeds.

Enthusiastic Support from Leadership-The initiative has received enthusiastic support from Union Telecom Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, hinting at further exciting developments. BSNL’s CMD, Robert J. Ravi, emphasizes the customer-centric approach, highlighting BSNL’s commitment to serving the people of India with its indigenous network.

BSNL’s Transformation: A Customer-First Approach-BSNL is rebranding itself as a modern, technologically advanced, and customer-focused telecom company. The company actively seeks customer feedback to improve its network, reflecting its dedication to providing excellent service. This customer-centric approach is integral to BSNL’s 5G development and its vision for India’s digital future.

The Future is Now: 5G is Coming to a City Near You-BSNL’s 5G journey is no longer just a plan; it’s a reality. With testing underway in numerous cities and a focus on indigenous technology, BSNL is not only contributing to India’s self-reliance but also paving the way for faster and more affordable internet access for all.
