The world’s tallest statue of Swami Vivekananda will be installed in Indore: Chief Minister Dr. Yadav

Bhopal: In a dignified program organized on Sunday, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav performed the Bhoomi Pujan for the installation of the world’s tallest statue of Swami Vivekananda at Devi Ahilya Sarovar Park in Sirpur, Indore. This historic initiative is being taken with the aim of spreading the life philosophy of great men to the new generation. This grand statue will become a powerful medium to spread Swami Ji’s teachings and philosophy to the people.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that India has a very rich tradition of saints and Swami Vivekananda was an extraordinary saint among them. As a worshipper of the formless God, he made the service of humanity the purpose of his life. Swami Vivekananda believed that “I will believe only if I see” which reflects his rational and scientific approach. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that Swami Vivekananda gave the mantra of life service through the body and conquered death by receiving the blessings of self-reliance. He refused to accept weakness and inferiority as a part of life and called it equal to death. He believed that with the help of courage, strength and self-confidence, a person can overcome all weaknesses.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that the entire life of Swami Vivekananda was a symbol of sacrifice, service and self-realization. His historic speech given at the Chicago Parliament of Religions is a living example of the spirit of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’, which hoisted the flag of India’s culture and spirituality on the world stage. He gave the mantra of developing life from inside to outside and described work as sadhana. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav called that the principles and thoughts of Swami Vivekananda are very relevant even today. We should follow the path shown by him and spread his thoughts to the people, so that the overall development of the society can be ensured. This statue installation is a big effort in this direction.
Urban Administration and Housing Minister Shri Kailash Vijayvargiya said that along with installing the statue of Swami Vivekananda, a library should also be established here, which should have literature related to Swami Vivekananda. This will guide the youth for success in life and will provide a new way of living.
Mayor Shri Pushyamitra Bhargava said that this statue will not only make the youth aware of Swami Vivekananda’s thoughts, but will also inspire them to follow his path. Swamiji’s ideals are very relevant for today’s youth and this memorial will give permanent form to his thoughts.
Water Resources Minister Shri Tulsiram Silawat, MP Shri Shankar Lalwani, Mayor Shri Pushpamitra Bhargav, MLAs Smt. Malini Gaur, Shri Ramesh Mendola and Shri Rakesh Shukla, former MLAs Shri Jeetu Jirati and Shri Sudarshan Gupta, Shri Sumit Mishra along with representatives and a large number of citizens were present.
Construction and development work
The statue will be created by the country’s renowned sculptor Shri Naresh Kumawat, who has created many prestigious statues across the country. A special gallery based on the life and thoughts of Swami Vivekananda ji will also be set up at the statue site, where youth will be inspired through pictures, documents and digital mediums. This place will become a new identity, cultural pride and a center of tourism development for Indore.
The total height of the statue to be built, including the structural base, will be around 52 feet. About 14 tonnes of a mixture of different metals will be used in its construction, which will be climate resistant and suitable for long-term durability.
