Who Won Yesterday’s Match on 4 May? Punjab vs Lucknow Full Match Recap

Who Won Yesterday’s Game (May 4th): Punjab Kings Crushed Lucknow Super Giants in a Blowout

Punjab Kings totally dominated and won against Lucknow Super Giants on Sunday. This win keeps Punjab’s chances alive for making it to the playoffs. On the flip side, this loss makes things harder for Lucknow. They now have to win all three of their remaining games to even have a shot at the playoffs.

Prabhsimran Singh’s Amazing Performance

Thanks to a super hot innings from Prabhsimran Singh, who blasted 91 runs off only 48 balls, Punjab Kings set a huge total of 237 runs for Lucknow. After losing the coin toss and being told to bat first, Punjab scored 236 runs while losing 5 wickets in their 20 overs. This is their fourth-highest score ever in IPL history. Interestingly, this was also the first time since 2011 that Punjab managed to get over the 200-run mark in Dharamshala. Before this, their highest score was 232 runs for 2 wickets against Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Prabhsimran and Shreyas Iyer Kept Punjab Steady

Punjab didn’t start off great. In the very first over, Akash Singh got rid of Priyansh Arya for just 1 run. After that, Prabhsimran Singh and Josh Inglis took over and added 48 runs for the second wicket. Inglis scored 30 runs with some good boundaries and sixes, but he was also sent back by Akash Singh. With the score at 50 for 2, things looked a little shaky. But Prabhsimran and Shreyas Iyer fought back and put together a strong 78-run partnership for the third wicket.

Prabhsimran Missed a Century by Just 9 Runs

Shreyas Iyer played a quick knock of 45 runs in just 25 balls before being caught by Mayank Yadav off Digvijay Rathi’s bowling. Meanwhile, Prabhsimran kept the energy up, hitting 6 fours and 7 sixes during his explosive innings of 91 runs. He missed his second IPL century by only 9 runs.
