Raipur 27 April 2025: Under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai, a new history of both rural development and social empowerment is being written in the state of Chhattisgarh. Through an innovative campaign Mor Duwar-Sai Sarkar, the Chhattisgarh government is engaged in giving the right of pucca house under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana with respect by knocking at the doors of poor, deprived and homeless families. Chief Minister Sai had started this campaign from Ghatpadampur village during his recent visit to Jagdalpur. Rapid and quality implementation of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana is the top priority of the Chhattisgarh government. Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai made this clear by approving housing to 18 lakh families in the first cabinet meeting on the second day of assuming the post of Chief Minister. The Chhattisgarh government is fulfilling its resolve to provide pucca housing to every eligible family through this campaign. It is the result of the rural housing revolution going on in Chhattisgarh that now in the villages, especially in the settlements of the backward and poor sections, instead of dilapidated mud houses and thatched huts supported by bamboo poles, clean and pucca houses are being built or are being seen being built. From the plains of the state to the remote forest areas, there is no village or hamlet where 8-10 pucca houses have not been built recently through the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. This scheme is not only providing shelter to lakhs of poor families, but is also giving impetus to employment, trade and industries. This has led to a boom in the business related to cement, bricks, rebar and construction material. This is a balanced model of public welfare and economic development.

The state of Chhattisgarh has been given a target of a total of 11,50,315 rural houses by the Government of India for the year 2024-25, out of which 9,41,595 houses have been approved so far. This effort has become even more comprehensive with the approval of additional 3 lakh houses to the state by Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan during his visit to Chhattisgarh. This is the biggest rural housing initiative in the history of Chhattisgarh so far. The state government is providing permanent housing under the Pradhan Mantri Janman Yojana to eligible families from all sections of the society as well as families of Baiga, Kamar, Pahari Korwa, Abujhmadia and Birhor special backward tribes. More than 15 Kamar families have been provided permanent houses under the PM Janman Yojana in the Kamar Basti of Dhansuli village of Mahasamund district. This has brought stability in the lives of these tribal families and they are also benefiting from other schemes of the government. The Chhattisgarh government’s More Duwar – Say Sarkar campaign is being run in three phases till April 30, in which door-to-door survey of eligible beneficiaries and reading out the list through Gram Sabhas and ensuring 100% coverage of eligible families, as well as public felicitation of the personnel who complete the survey. Chief Minister Sai’s visit to the village and launching the survey work and taking information about the beneficiaries from them is a proof that the state government is fully sensitive and determined about the effective implementation of this scheme. To give this campaign the form of a public campaign, active participation of public representatives, public servants and local artists has been ensured. People are also being motivated by persons nominated as PM Awas Panchayat Ambassadors. Transparency and easy availability of information has been ensured through the Griha portal.

In addition to the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, the Chief Minister Housing Scheme is being run by the Chhattisgarh government to provide permanent housing to the needy families in the state. Under this scheme, 38,632 houses have been approved so far against the target of construction of 47,090 houses. On the special initiative of the state government, 15,000 special houses have been approved for surrendered Naxalites and Naxal-affected families, which are being constructed. To achieve the target of construction of 42,326 houses for families of special backward tribes under PM Janman Yojana, 27,778 houses have been approved so far, out of which construction of 6,482 houses has been completed. So far 477 houses have been completed under Niyad-Nella-Nar Yojana. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Griha Pravesh of 3 lakh beneficiaries from Bilaspur on the first day of Chaitra Navratri is the success of this scheme. 18 lakh eligible beneficiaries were deprived of housing by the previous government. Chhattisgarh government is now working towards giving every beneficiary his rights. Mor Duwar- Say Sarkar Maha Abhiyan is a symbol of governance’s sensitivity, transparency of policy and commitment towards the public. This campaign is not just the success of the scheme, but an important step towards the creation of a strong, empowered and self-reliant Chhattisgarh.
