Citizens and public representatives should join hands to make Jal Ganga Samvardhan Abhiyan a success: Chief Minister Dr. Yadav

Bhopal: Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has said that under the three-month long Jal Ganga Sanvardhan Abhiyan running in the state, good results should be achieved by taking the participation of citizens and cooperation of public representatives in the cleanliness, conservation and maintenance of water sources. The campaign is being continuously reviewed at the government level and the work of recording the village and city level works is also being done on the dashboard. The districts doing the best work will be rewarded. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav was reviewing the activities of the campaign at Samatva Bhawan Chief Minister’s residence on Saturday. It was told in the meeting that 1.06 lakh Jaldoots have been prepared in the state, who are working to increase public awareness towards water sources. It is noteworthy that the Jal Ganga Sanvardhan Abhiyan, which started from March 30 in the state, is to continue till June 30.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav will oversee the work in the districts
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav received information about the works being done under the campaign at the level of Panchayat and Rural Development, Water Resources, Narmada Valley Development, Forest, Public Health Engineering, Revenue, Urban Development and Housing departments as well as Madhya Pradesh Jan Abhiyan Parishad and gave instructions. District collectors also joined the meeting virtually. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that he will visit various districts to see the work of Jal Ganga Sanvardhan Abhiyan.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that a list of water structures important from the architectural point of view should be prepared in the state. Such heritage of archaeological and tourism importance should be linked with conservation activities in order to preserve it. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that along with Bhopal, there are many ancient stepwells in Jabalpur, Sagar, Ujjain cities, cleanliness work should be conducted there. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav received information about the works of the campaign department wise.
Culture and Education Department should organize festivals
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that students should be informed about the importance of water sources and water conservation on the occasion of prayer meetings. The education department should organize essay and speech competitions on the importance of water on various festivals in collaboration with the culture department. Such programs should be organized on occasions like Ganga Dussehra and Akha Teej.
Balaghat tops in farm pond scheme
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav congratulated the officials for constructing the maximum number of 561 farm ponds in Balaghat district. It was told in the meeting that the number of 76 thousand farm ponds constructed in the state in GIS based system is an achievement. Anuppur district is at second place in the state by constructing 275 farm ponds and Alirajpur district is at third place by constructing 216 farm ponds. The best work has been done in Seoni district for the construction of Amrit Sarovar. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav congratulated the collectors and the team of officials of these districts.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav discussed the work of the districts
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav received information about the campaign works from the District Collectors. Work has been started from Kaliyasot in Bhopal district. Along with this, ancient water sources are being cleaned in Berasia. Raisen Collector informed that work is going on to construct Bori Bandhan in village Jhiri, the origin place of Betwa river located near Bhopal city. Tikamgarh Collector informed that work is being done to clean and beautify 70 ancient ponds and 10 stepwells by removing encroachment from the areas near them. In Shahdol, it is considered a special place due to the availability of hot water from Tatapani. Work is being done to preserve such sources. In Sagar, old structures have been taken into revenue records. Work is also being done to revive the rivers. In Gwalior, the Vyapari Sangh has arranged for pots and chilled coolers for public drinking water. Arrangements are being made for sherbet and buttermilk along with water at the procurement centers. Information was given about the use of water through Israeli method in Mohanpura area of Rajgarh and the works being done under the campaign in Gayakotha, Bawankund in Ujjain as well as on the route of Panchkroshi Yatra. Information about plantation activities in various districts was also given in the meeting. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav praised the districts which innovated and worked actively in the campaign.
drinking water management
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav received detailed information about drinking water management works in urban and rural areas of the state. He directed the district collectors to ensure adequate drinking water arrangements in every settlement in every district. Chief Secretary Mr. Anurag Jain and senior officials of the departments were present in the meeting.

Revive the ancient water structures, make them useful. Also protect them from encroachment.
Old stepwells important from the architectural point of view should also be documented.
Complete the goals of construction of Amrit Sarovar.
More work should be done under the farm pond scheme.
Prepare water ambassadors for the campaign and involve public representatives.
Explore possibilities of linking rivers within the state.
There should be water arrangements for animals also in forest areas.
Start public drinking water stalls in urban and rural areas.
Encourage low water crops.
