Indore Metro Gets Green Light for Operation After Safety Check

Indore. The long-standing dream of Indore residents to see the city’s first metro running is finally coming true after 13 years. Back then, people along with their elected leaders had hoped that Indore would be the first in the state to get a metro. Now, that dream is just about to become reality. A 5.9-kilometer stretch of the super priority corridor, along with the metro coaches and depot, has received a green signal from the Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety (CMRS). With this clearance, the commercial run of the metro between five stations on the super priority corridor can now begin. That means there are no more roadblocks left for the people of Indore to travel in the metro. The metro management is fully prepared to begin operations for passengers. Staff, ticket counters and other arrangements ready All arrangements including staff and ticket counters at the five stations of the super priority corridor are already in place. So, as soon as the state government gives the nod, the metro’s commercial operations can begin. Recently, Urban Development and Housing Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya held a meeting with metro officials and said there was no need to rush the launch of metro service on this corridor. He mentioned that once the stretch between Gandhinagar and Radisson Square is ready, passenger services could begin by August. Metro to be linked with city buses To make travel easier, the metro management has planned to link the metro service with AICTSL’s electric buses. These buses will connect passengers from Radisson and Vijay Nagar to the airport and other important points.

  • Radisson Square to Vijay Nagar: Passengers can take an e-bus and get off at Station 3 on the Super Corridor.

  • SC Station 3 to Gandhinagar: From there, they can hop onto the metro for their next leg of the journey.

  • Gandhinagar to Airport and Bada Ganpati: From Gandhinagar station, passengers can again board an e-bus to reach the airport and Bada Ganpati Square.

Fare system simplified
Passengers can travel in both the electric bus and metro by using a common card and paying just the minimum fare. They won’t need separate tickets for different modes of transport.
